Backups
Backups and moving to a new phone
There is no server holding a copy of your diary. You make the copies — and only you can open them. Manual backups, restoring and moving to a new phone are free, as often as you like.

A backup protected by a recovery code
A backup is one file with the whole diary, including earlier versions of entries. It is encrypted with a 25-character recovery code that is shown once. Write the code down and keep it apart from the file: without it the backup cannot be opened.
Automatic backups
With TAEONIA Horizon, turn on automatic backups to a folder you choose — daily, every three days, weekly or monthly — and keep one, three or five latest. Each backup is verified before it counts as written. If that folder is synced by another app, the encrypted file goes wherever that app sends it.
Moving to another phone
In the app, choose “Move to another phone”. The diary leaves as an encrypted file; pass on the code separately. On the new phone, install the app and choose “I have a copy” on the first screen.
If there is no backup
If the phone is lost or broken and there is no backup, the diary cannot be restored. The PIN and the recovery code cannot be reset — not by you, not by us.
